The Crew

Writer/Director - Katie Hill
A little bit about me: I've always been a creative individual, as I was a competitive dancer for nine years when I was growing up. After high school, I left the dance world to pursue the theatre world. I'll admit - maybe that was not the smartest move, but I can't complain because it has brought me here to the film world, and I still dance in my spare time. I love all music but express a slight favouritism to country music! As well as I have have recently taken up the ukulele so that I can play some music of my own (another creative outlet *smiley face*). Innately, I am an artist: passionate, stubborn, analytical, emotional, adventurous, and hold dear to my sense of self. I never thought that I would end up chasing directing... But here I am, and I couldn't be more driven or excited to direct Severance. I have an amazing crew, which is predominantly made up of young women! So I'm really excited to create a meaningful work of art, while breaking barriers at the same time.

Producer - Cassidy Johnson
Ever since I was a little girl, it was clear that I was a storyteller. Reading was my favourite pastime, and eventually developed into a love for writing as well. My creativity continued to blossom from there, taking shape in the form of drawing and sewing, and, upon entering high school, filmmaking. There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to pursue filmmaking in post secondary, although I never would have thought that it would bring me to producing. But now, I couldn't be happier. I'm super excited to be producing Severance and working alongside an amazing crew, and I know that we'll make a film that everyone is proud of!

Director of Photography - Tara Rea
My name is Tara Rea and I'm the Director of Photography on the upcoming short film Severance. I've always loved working with cameras and images, even before I started my education at Humber four years ago. I've always been so captivated by the power of visual storytelling and that's how I knew cinematography was for me! In my spare time I enjoy cooking, running, and watching films of course (even the old black and white ones haha). I love working as a DoP as well as collaborating with the director and the rest of the crew.

I hope to one day become an accomplished DoP and have the ability to represent and promote other accomplished females in this industry!

First Assistant Director - Samantha Shreve
Now entering my fourth year of study in Film and Media Production at Humber College, I can't remember a time when filmmaking wasn't my dream. I love to see how collaboration can transform ideas into tangible art. I look forward to working with the Severance team to create something that we can all be proud to have worked on and I hope to inspire people to push themselves the extra mile to see how much they can achieve. I truly believe this crew is capable of creating great work and I'll gladly be there for that little extra push when it's needed.

Production Manager/Editor - Stephanie Froud
I have always been a creative individual, but I have never been able to put my thoughts onto paper. I have tried writing and painting, but those never seemed to allow me to fully express myself. Then I found film. In my Communications Technology class in High School, I had my first taste of filmmaking and I was hooked. With film I can tell a story without having to write it and show a picture without having to draw it. I am very excited to work on Severance as the Production Manager as well as the Editor and help bring this story to life.
